Truckee Donner Chamber says thanks for the Fourth!

The Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce, organizers and producers of Truckeeandamp;#8217;s 4th of July Parade, would like to thank everyone who worked together to continue the tradition of this community celebration. The Chamber has produced the parade for many years, and this year reached out to the community to establish an official 4th of July Parade committee in an effort to broaden community involvement and support of the parade.Included on the Chamberandamp;#8217;s Parade Committee are parade volunteers extraordinaire for the past 13 years Hartley and Pattie Lesser, the Truckee Donner Recreation andamp; Park District, Rotary Club of Truckee, Sunrise Rotary, Optimists, Soroptimist, the Town of Truckee (Public Works and Police Departments), California Highway Patrol, Cal Trans, Ron Florian and Jim Simon. In the spirit of community, Norm Justesen and Pam Hobday, named Citizens of the Year by InterClub in February, were also selected as Parade Grand Marshals.The 4th of July Parade and related activities at West End Beach are a huge economic stimulus for Truckee. It is a tradition for many residents and visitors alike. The Chamber could not put on the Parade without volunteers and sponsors. Generous sponsors this year include: Alison Bermant, Attorney at Law; Clear Capital; Dickson Realty (The Schallers); Glow; Lahontan Golf Club; Martis Camp; Mountain Hardware; Northstar-at-Tahoe; Plumas Bank; Resort at Squaw Creek; Rotary Club of Truckee; Sierra Sun; Soroptimist; Sugar Bowl, Tahoe Donner Association; Tahoe Forest Health System; The Treehouse; Truckee Physical Therapy and Truckee Tahoe Airport District. Other businesses that contributed to the parade production include Crux Events and Robert E. Sutton Company.Special thanks to Wells Fargo for bringing the gorgeous stagecoach again this year to the parade. It is an amazing symbol of our history and always popular with the crowds. Riding high atop the stagecoach this year was Mayor Carolyn Dee, former Mayor Josh Susman and inside the coach was Chamber President/CEO Lynn Saunders.Thanks to our always popular downtown announcer Jim Simon, and to Kane Schaller announcing at the West end of the parade. This year announcing also included J.D. Hoss of 101.5 FM radio on top of Tanner Design Studio.Thanks to our esteemed panel of judges including Head Judge Ron Florian, Vice Mayor Richard Anderson, Carole Sesko, Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce Chair-Elect Neil Cunningham, and Sue Cunningham.And finally thanks to all who were a part of the parade from the fire departments, the beautiful sounds of the Mountain Belles, the Tahoe Truckee Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol to the 54 parade entries and thousands of people along Donner Pass Road enjoying the celebration. The parade truly is a Truckee tradition and reflects our pride of community and the spirit of the 4th of July holiday.
