Truckee Donner PUD appoints Ferree as new director

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The Truckee Donner Public Utility District board unanimously voted to appoint Laura Ferree as the replacement for director John Hillstrom. Ferreeand#8217;s term will run until November 2012 at which point the seat will be up for election.

and#8220;It was clear Laura Ferreeand#8217;s presentation impressed the board,and#8221; said Jeff Bender, president of the TDPUD board. and#8220;I believe Ms. Ferreeand#8217;s diverse background including her education and communication skills will serve our rate payers well.and#8221;

Ferree is a local Truckee/North Tahoe lawyer with a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. She has worked as a police officer for the City of Alexandria, Va., clerked for the Honorable Joyce Hens Green of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and worked in private law firms.



Ferree serves on the Town of Truckee Housing Advisory Workgroup and as a member of the Advisory Committee to the California Commission on Access to Justice Rural Task Force. She is also a member of the Queen of Hearts Fund of the Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation and has worked for the Family Resource Center of Truckee.

Ferree lives in Truckee with her husband, two teenagers, and two rescue dogs. When not working or with her family, she likes to ride her road bike and read fiction. Ferree has traveled extensively in Latin America and speaks Spanish.
