Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District announces free riding day and new Equestrian Commission
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District has formed a new committee of dedicated equestrians whose mission is to foster and promote the McIver Arena, facilitate a safe and inviting working arena for the equestrian community at large Committee members are Jennie Bartlett, Heather Graziano, Jackie Well, Phyllis Keller, Dottie Hudecek, Mary Blocher, Ronda Brooks and Maxi Chelli. Their combined knowledge in the horse industry brings more than a century of experience and dedication. Committee members are qualified and passionate about trail riding, western pleasure/equitation, english pleasure/equitation, endourance, show management, stock work, ranch work, cutting horses, fox hunting horses, training, jumping dressage, horseshoeing, the Truckee Donner Horsemen’s Association and the Tahoe Rim Riders 4-H club. The McIver Arena is open to the public for use with the purchase of a season pass. Passes are $25 for a single and $50 for a family. Visit the TDRPD office, located at the community recreation center, for pass or information.The Equestrian Committee will host a free riding day Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Bring your horses to the arena, test it out, get information. Thanks to the equipment from Advanced Asphalt, TDRPD was able to pull up the top 8 inches of footing, screen it for rocks and dragged the surface.
