Truckee Drama Club to perform and#8216;Itand#8217;s Not Youand#8217;

Submitted to aedgett@sierrasun.comPeggy Boelk coaches her students for the Truckee High production of and#8220;Itand#8217;s not You,and#8221; to be performed Jan. 6 and 7.

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; After a three-year dry spell, the Truckee Drama Club is working hard to bring culture to town. Known mostly for their outstanding Spring musicals, director Peggy Boelk hand selected a small group of students to revive the annual fall/winter production, Jan. 6 and 7. The play, entitled, and#8220;Itand#8217;s Not Youand#8221; is a collection of scenes and monologues picked by Boelk and students in the club. and#8220;This truly is a show that should not be missed. This is a group of incredibly talented kids showcasing some of their best work,and#8221; said Boelk.

Indeed, on a recent visit to the high school to talk with Boelk, those mingling in the theatre were captivated by the ongoing rehearsal. The level of talent, passion and emotion delivered by the small cast, Calvin Brady, Kaelyn York, Helen Bansen, Theresa Oand#8217;Gorman, Graham Holten and Ben Avery is evident. The title, and#8220;Itand#8217;s Not Youand#8221; infers the true spirit of the play and#8212; itand#8217;s me. Each act draws the audience in and resonates with deeply held emotions, beliefs and comedic moments.

Boelk did say in a departure from the typical musical comedy from Truckee High drama every spring, this production brings serious topics and mildly strong language to the stage. and#8220;Really, Iand#8217;d say its rated PG, but itand#8217;s a true expression of what these kids wanted to do. This group of kids are the top of the crop and#8212; donand#8217;t miss it, it is truly one of the best,and#8221; said Boelk.

So make it a date Friday, Jan. 6 and Saturday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. Your chance to enjoy more of the incredibly talented students of Truckee High School.
