Truckee High Fall Concert announced
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Performance season has already begun for the students of the Truckee High School band. You have see them march and support the varsity football team at home games come rain or shine; you have seen them lead their school in the Homecoming parade, and now you can see them at Truckee High auditorium on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 7-8 p.m. for their fall concert. Admission is free – support the hard-working students of the Jazz and Concert Bands.
There will be pizza by the slice provided by Zano’s, homemade bake sale goods and drinks available for purchase to raise funds for the Band’s many programs especially the band tours. In the spring, the band visits retirement and veterans communities as a part of a multi-day tour. The band tour is often cited as a highlight of the year for the audience and participants alike.
Also, mark your calendars for the premier showcase event for local talent. The Truckee Band Talent Show will be held on Friday Dec. 7, in the high school theater. The talent show is a community event where individuals or groups have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. The talent is always awesome, so plan on getting out and supporting the band.
Truckee Excellence in Music Parents Organization (TEMPO) is the official THS Music Department Booster Club. TEMPO High is a nonprofit organization established in 1995. The main goal is to support the Truckee High School Band Program. Fundraising efforts support the band and allow band students to participate in honor bands, workshops and the band tours. The main annual fundraiser is the telethon. This live event, during which band performances are broadcast for the public, is shown on TTCTV Channel 6. It has been a highly successful fundraiser. The band is also a member of the eScrip program. Donations are also accepted on the TEMPO High website tempohigh.org. Funds raised from this and all fundraisers help pay transportation, lodging and meals for the band’s tours, summer scholarship programs and other operating costs of the band.
