TRUCKEE, Calif. – Christmas break saw a brief reunion of three 2012 Truckee High School graduates who are now Marines: PFC Jason Smith, Pvt. Betsy Davis, and Pvt. Tyler York. They enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program while seniors, and finished boot camp in November and December. Smith and York graduated from MCRD San Diego, and Davis from MCRD Parris Island, S.C. All three will attend non-infantry combat training for one month before heading to their respective military occupational schools. The commitment to the Marines is eight years, with four or five years of active service, and the remainder in the Reserves. Pvt. York’s brother Trevor, a 2011 graduate, is currently deployed in Afghanistan.
