Truckee residents benefit from ATandamp;T network upgrades
TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; ATandamp;T announced network upgrades in Truckee designed to provide its customers faster speeds, increased reliability and best-in-class wireless service. ATandamp;Tandamp;#8217;s latest network enhancements include adding a new cell site in Truckee designed to improve coverage to North Shore Boulevard north of Tahoe Vista. While the new cell site means expanded coverage in Truckee, ATandamp;T has also been adding capacity to improve service. During 2011 ATandamp;T added capacity to more than 70 cell sites in Placer County. andamp;#8220;Adding more capacity to a cell site is like adding more lanes on the freeway so that voice and data traffic flows faster,andamp;#8221; said Terry Stenzel, ATandamp;T vice president and general manager for Northern California and Northern Nevada. andamp;#8220;Whether customers are talking, texting, e-mailing, surfing the net, streaming music or video, using their favorite apps, or conducting business we want to make sure they have a good mobile broadband experience.andamp;#8221;In addition, ATandamp;T continues upgrading cell sites with fiber optic and Ethernet connections back to the central switching facilities, enabling faster 4G speeds. andamp;#8220;Weandamp;#8217;re investing in our network in Truckee and Placer County because weandamp;#8217;re committed to providing best-in-class wireless voice and data service to our customers,andamp;#8221; said Ken McNeely, ATandamp;Tandamp;#8217;s California president. andamp;#8220;We will continue investing and making network improvements in 2012.andamp;#8221; ATandamp;Tandamp;#8217;s mobile broadband network provides several important advantages for customers, including the ability to talk and surf at the same time. For instance, customers can look up directions to an event while still talking on the phone, or browse social media sites will chatting with a friend. ATandamp;T also provides access to voice service in more than 220 countries and data service in more than 200 countries. Business Traveler magazine recently named ATandamp;T as having the andamp;#8220;Best Mobile Coverage in the Worldandamp;#8221; andamp;#8212; the fourth time ATandamp;T has received the distinction. In addition, most ATandamp;T customers have access to nearly 30,000 ATandamp;T Wi-Fi Hotspots across the country at no extra charge. In 2008, there were about 20 million connections to the ATandamp;T Wi-Fi Network.
