Truckee Rodeo to host Kid’s Day

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Kids Day will be held Friday, July 23, McIver Arena, 11a.m.-1 p.m. Children come to meet the clowns and join them in events. Hosted hot dogs for lunch and the Truckee Donner Junior Horsemen Mounted Drill Team. Kings Beach 4H will display their Native American teepee. Also face painting, balloon tying, a bounce house, stick horse pole bending, roping and other games. Smokey Bear will be making an appearance. All for the children, all for free, courtesy of the Truckee Championship Pro Rodeo and our sponsors!

Then, 5 p.m. and#8217;til the cows come home. Sponsor Appreciation Team Penning, Kids Calf Scramble, plus barbecue Dinner and Dance catered by Smokeyand#8217;s Kitchen, music featuring The Workhouse Poets. The danced changed to Friday from Saturday this year.

Rodeo tickets for Saturday and Sunday performances will be available for purchase prior to the event.

Truckee Championship Pro Rodeo events

Bareback riding, bronco riding, tie down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and bull riding. Saturday, July 24, performance will begin at 5 p.m. Gates will open at 3 p.m. Sundayand#8217;s performance will begin at 1 p.m., gates will open at 11 a.m.

In an effort to give back to the youth of our community, no coolers will be allowed. Concessions will have food for sale. Parking is limited and carpooling is suggested, $5 per car. Proceeds will support the Truckee High School Football teams. In 2009 $1,000 was contributed to Truckee Football. Many thanks to the team for a job well done and congratulations on their State Championship!

Mutton Bustinand#8217;

Open both days. Mutton Bustin will take place Saturday and Sunday during the rodeo performance. Boys and girls between the ages of 4 to 8 and weighing 50 pounds or less are invited to ride for distance. Visit for information.
