Truckee songwriter hits network television for Halloween

TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; Truckee songwriter Gordon Simons will have two of his Halloween songs on America’s number one soap opera, andamp;#8220;The Young and the Restless,andamp;#8221; for the second year in a row. The episode will air Monday, Oct. 31, 11 a.m. on CBSThe andamp;#8220;Young and the Restlessandamp;#8221; is a hugely popular day-time drama series. Since it first aired in 1973, the show has won seven daytime Emmy awards for outstanding drama. It is also currently the highest-rated day-time drama on American television, with almost 5 million viewers.Simons and his partner, Lane Cameron, write and produce a variety of pop and novelty songs, including Halloween and Christmas songs, patriotic anthems, comedy, children’s music and advertising jingles.Their recording group, Simons andamp; Cameron, has been heard across America and around the world on radio and TV shows. Reno talk show host, Bill Manders, spotlighted the group on KOH 780. They have been interviewed by CBS’s Jim Taylor in New York. They were also on the world-famous Dr. Demento Show. Simons graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA and has been a resident of Truckee for more than 20 years.Simons andamp; Cameron has dozen of songs on iTunes and also several music videos on YouTube. One new video, andamp;#8220;I’m Proud to be an American Girl,andamp;#8221; was showcased in a Sierra Sun story in June (visit sierrasun.com). The production is Simons’ patriotic tribute to America, featuring rising Reno, Nev. star Erika Davidson, a cast of Truckee girls and Army and Navy officers.andamp;#8220;Our recording group is very diverse, Erika just graduated from high school, and our veteran sax player, Billy, has played with Elvin Bishop and Jefferson Starship,andamp;#8221; said Simons.When October rolls around, Simons andamp; Cameron focus on Halloween. andamp;#8220;Monster Halloween Partyandamp;#8221; and andamp;#8220;Monster Halloween Rapandamp;#8221; are their songs on andamp;#8220;The Young and the Restlessandamp;#8221; Halloween episode.
