July 20, 1-8 p.m. Unwind Salon in Truckee is hosting a benefit to support Tahoe-Truckee Future Without Drug Dependenceand#8217;s youth drug and alcohol prevention efforts with a a summer spa spritzer fundraiser. All services are buy donation and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit TT-FWDD. Spa menu includes: haircuts, special effects highlights, facial waxing, chair massages, nails and tanning booth.

and Tahoe Truckee Flyfishers Club fundraiser

Saturday, July 21, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Truckee River Regional Park, 10500 Brockway Road, Truckee. Cost $20 at the door, kids 12 and under free. Barbecue, silent auction, casting games, raffle, prizes. Agenda: 11 a.m., check in and social hour including casting practice and use of demo rods and reels; noon, view silent auction items and participate in casting skill games to include prizes; raffle tickets will be available for purchase as well; 1 p.m. barbecue lunch will be served (plank salmon and teriyaki chicken), soft drinks and water provided; 2 p.m. close of silent auction and raffle results; 2:15 p.m. auction awards and results.

The Wild Humorist of the Pacific Slope

Saturday, July 21, 7 p.m. Toccata will present Mark Twain and#8220;The Wild Humorist of the Pacific Slopeand#8221; at the Toccata Center for Performing Arts (formerly Mark Twain Cultural Center), 760 Mays Blvd., Ste. 10, in the Incline Center. McAvoy Layne as the Ghost of Mark Twain will relive the adventures of Samuel Clemens that take him from Tahoe and Virginia City to San Francisco, Jackass Hill and the Sandwich Islands and#8230; featuring and#8220;1601and#8221; a ribald fireside conversation that will make a cast iron dog laugh. Tahoe Truckee California Democratic Club meeting

The regular club meeting will be Thursday, July 26, in the conference room of the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, 11071 Donner Pass Road in Truckee. There will not be a potluck supper.

The speaker will be Donna Prishmont, a Democratic leader in Incline Village who successfully led the campaign that caused Barack Obama to win Incline Village in 2008. Donna is committed to winning Incline Village and Nevada in 2012. She will share the story of 2008 and prepare Dems to help in 2012.

Sexual harassment workshop July 26

The North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association and the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Sierra Human Resources Association (SHRA) are offering and#8220;The Generations and Sexual Harassment: Awareness and Prevention for Business Owners and Managersand#8221; Thursday, July 26, 9-11 a.m., with registration and snacks at 8:30 a.m.

The event will be held at the Cedar House Sport Hotel, 10918 Brockway Road in Truckee and will satisfy California AB 1825 required training.

Registration is $49 per person for SHRA members, $59 for chamber members and $69 for non-members if registered before Wednesday, July 25. Last-minute registration runs $59 for SHRA members, $69 for chamber members and $79 non-members.

Volunteers needed for Living History Day at Ehrman Mansion

The California State Parks and the Sierra State Parks Foundation will host Living History Day at Pine Lodge, a celebration of the anniversary of the lodge, aka the Ehrman Mansion, at Sugar Pine Point State Park on July 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Living history activities will include Open House tours, a childrenand#8217;s activity zone, an antique car show and a wooden boats display. Refreshments will be available for purchase. All events are free, though there is a $10 parking fee.

People of all ages are needed to wear costumes and play roles of the Ehrman family members, guests and employees. Helpers are also needed for the childrenand#8217;s zone that will include crafts, games, and activities.

California Carnival coming to Truckee

Proceeds benefit Tahoeand#8217;s Connection for Families

The California Carnival will be held Wednesday, July 25 through Sunday, July 29 in Truckee at the Truckee Regional Park Rodeo Parking lot. A portion of all ticket sales benefit Tahoeand#8217;s Connection for Families.

The cost is $15 for an unlimited rides wristband if purchased in advance. With advance purchase you will receive a book of tickets that you may turn in for the unlimited rides wristband at the carnival ticket booth. Advance purchase tickets are on sale at Safeway in Truckee and Tahoeand#8217;s Connection for Families located at 754 Mays Blvd., Ste. 12, in Incline Village, Nev. Tahoeand#8217;s Connection for Families nets a higher percentage on all advance sales so buy early.

Lake of the Sky Garden Tour

Lake of the Sky Garden Club is a nonprofit organization and member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., Pacific Region, and California Garden Clubs, Inc., Golden Foothills District. The cluband#8217;s goals are to promote an interest in gardening, with particular emphasis on the problems at high altitude, to support charitable, educational, and scientific works, as well as to initiate and participate in beautification and developmental gardening projects in the North Tahoe region.

On Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Lake of the Sky will host their 24th annual garden tour, the 2012 North Shore Garden Tour from Tahoe Vista to Tahoe City. Proceeds will fund scholarships to encourage study in landscaping, horticulture, forestry or environmental science and up to $6,000 in grants to local community projects. Past recipients have included Thunderbird Lodge, Tahoe City Historical Society, Watson Cabin, Gatekeeperand#8217;s Museum, Girl Scouts, Project MANA, as well as local schools and libraries.

Sam Brixey Micro 6 Memorial Soccer Tournament

Saturday, Aug. 4, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Riverview Sports Park in Truckee. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, Aug. 4, for the Sam Brixey Micro 6 Memorial Soccer Tournament. Proceeds from this event go to the Truckee High School Soccer program and provide a scholarship in Sam Brixeyand#8217;s name to a graduating high school senior soccer player. Truckee Rodeo coming to town

Truckee Rodeo kicks off this year with California Cowboy Professional Rodeo Association contestants on Aug. 25 and 26. The sponsor appreciation dinner and team sorting will be on Friday, Aug. 24, gates open at 2 p.m. with sorting at 5 p.m. Dinner is served by Smokeyand#8217;s Kitchen for $20, those wishing to entire as a team for open sorting $60. Piping Rock will provide livestock for the sorting. Dine with the rodeo sponsors and other rodeo personalities. On Saturday, gates open at 3 p.m., Rodeo starts at 5 p.m. Sunday, Rodeo action begins at 1 p.m.

Kidand#8217;s Day is Friday, 11a.m.-1 p.m. Admission is free to everyone that day. Tickets are $15 at the gate Saturday ad Sunday. Pre-sale tickets are $12.
