June 3, location to be announced. Call Rolann Aronson, Volunteer Truckee Literacy Coordinator for details at 575-7030. Volunteer Literacy Tutor incumbents meet to learn tutoring techniques appropriate for working with adults who wish to fine tune their English skills, (eg. reading, writing and speaking). Each new tutor will be matched with a student. There will also be follow up meetings to assist tutors and learners to reach their goals. This is a free Nevada County and Truckee Library Program entitled and#8220;Read Up.and#8221;

This two-part training series for executive directors and board members on Accounting as Good Governance will cover: What is accounting? What financial reports should you be looking at and what do they mean? Internal controls: What are they and why are they important? June 3 and 10, Thursdays 4-6 p.m. in the Meiling Room of the DWR Center. Instructor: Deborah Hackett, PTCF Controller. PCC Members free, non-PCC members $5 per class. Contact, (775) 298-0119.

Bahrke will be the guest of honor at the inagural Tails in Tahoe K-9 Encounters Pet Expo at the Boatworks Mall Green in Tahoe City June 5. Activities will include Humane Society adoptions, a dog wash, a Kids Pet Art Show, a yoga demonstration, an Olympic Museum exhibit, the North Tahoe Frisbee Fetch Championships, and much more. Live music and an outdoor BBQ provided by Jake’s will complement the afternoon activities from 12 noon-3 p.m.

On June 6 Bahrke will serve as the celebrity judge for the Dogz in Dudz Contest and the 7th Annual Truckee Duckee Derbee held at the River Ranch Lodge. Festivities start at 1 p.m.

Motivated individuals who are enthusiastic and willing to get dirty and plant native plants in the new Tahoe City Field Station native plant demonstration garden June 28 and 30 at 8:30 a.m., UC Davis Tahoe City Field Station, 2400 Lake Forest Road, Tahoe City.
