CB’s Pizza andamp; Grill, 5075 N. Lake Blvd., Carnelian Bay is hosting a Pig Roast to benefit the Boys andamp; Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe Saturday, June 5, 3-10 p.m., with live music from the Drunken Neighbors and a Kids Activity Zone. Cost is $10 per person. Call 546-4738 for information.

Soroptimist International of Truckee-Donner will hold the 36th annual Wine andamp; Restaurant Faire, 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Coyote Moon, 10685 Northwoods Blvd., Truckee. Tickets are $35 in advance at Dickson Realty, Truckee Chamber of Commerce, Truckee Physical Therapy and $40 at the door. All proceeds benefit local scholarships, educational and service programs.



The New Balance/Girls on the Run 5K Fun Run event is open to the entire community June 6. Runners, walkers, children and strollers are all welcome (please, no dogs). Online pre-registration is $20 per person at http://www.girlsontherun sierras.org, race day $25 per person. Event festivities include music, games, a great raffle and food for purchase. Registration and pre-race festivities begin at 9 a.m. The run starts at 10 a.m., Truckee River View Sports Park, 12200 Joerger Drive (off Soaring Way). Participation will help raise money.

Competition is on Sunday, June 6, from one hour before sunrise to High Noon. Prize money is awarded for the largest Mackinaw $1,000, $500 for the largest Brown Trout and $250 for the largest Rainbow Trout. $50 Entry donation includes T-shirt, Jake’s Buffet Brunch, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and raffle. All proceeds to benefit North Tahoe Booster Club. Register in Tahoe City at Jake’s On The Lake or Pete andamp;#8216;N Peters by 5 p.m. June 5. You don’t have to fish to join the festivities, food and fun! Brunch buffet for $18 per adult, $12 per child 12 and under. For more information call 583-0188.



Monday, June 7, 11:30 a.m. andamp;#8211; 1:30 p.m., Jake’s on the Lake, Tahoe City. No speaker scheduled. This meeting is to fine tune details for the annual fundraiser andamp;#8220;WIN for Charityandamp;#8221; July 10. Guests and potential members are welcome to attend. Call Carole Eichhorn at 546-5056. Tahoe League for Charity is a nonprofit organization whose focus is to benefit the local communities of North Lake Tahoe, Incline Village and Truckee areas by providing scholarships to local students and grants to local nonprofits.

Tahoe City native and North Tahoe High School alumnus Shannon Bahrke, an Olympic freestyle skier and entrepreneur, will be a guest speaker at North Tahoe High School’s graduation ceremony on Tuesday, June 8, at 4:30 p.m. Bahrke was the bronze medalist at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the silver medalist in moguls at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, and in 2003 was the World Cup Champion. Bahrke was also the 2009 US National Champion in dual moguls. She has reached the podium twice at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, winning bronze in 2003 and silver in 2007. In 2008 she founded Silver Bean Coffee, a Salt Lake City based coffee roasting company. For more information on this year’s graduation ceremonies, call 581-7000.

The Soule Domain will host an artist opening /reception for Pat Miller Wednesday, June 9, 4-6 p.m. featuring her oil colors, complimentary light hors d’oeuvres and half price beverages. Pat Miller loves capturing the beauty of the natural world with bold dynamic brushstrokes and dramatic color. She has painted in oils for 40 years and studied under nationally recognized painters. The beauty of the Sierra Mountains and Lake Tahoe are often her subject. Soule Domain will celebrate their 25th year serving Soule Food June 14. Get on Tahoe offers a new water shuttle service that has already begun transporting visitors from the North and East Shores. Get on Tahoeandamp;#8217;s Blue Warrior offers pick ups and drops offs in Tahoe City, Kings Beach, Incline Village, Sand Harbor State Recreation Area and more. The M/V Blue Warrior is owned by the Tahoe Divers Conservancy, whose mission is to continue its fight against the invasive species that have invaded Lake Tahoe, namely the Eurasian watermilfoil, Curlyleaf Pondweed, Asian Clam and quagga mussels.
