Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus | Singing one accord

If you do something of your own accord, you do it without being asked. In music, a consonance is accord or agreement of sounds produced simultaneously. How appropriate to announce Dr. Tom Acord as the newest Director of the Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus of Sierra College, joining Chris Nelson and Susan K. Horst.

Dr. Acord earned his B.M. degree from Texas Tech University and his M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from the University of Texas, Austin. His opera career started with the Santa Fe Opera apprenticeship program. His symphony appearances include San Jose, Boise, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Oakland, and Marin. Dr. Acord has produced, conducted, directed and designed operas on the national scene and university opera workshops. In sacred literature, Dr. Acord has performed the tenor solos in all of the major oratorios and sacred works in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout the West Coast. He has also graced the Truckee-Tahoe Community with his beautiful tenor voice, singing solos, duets and harmony with the TTCC.

Dr. Acord, on his own accord, has volunteered to manage the chorusand#8217;s fundraising efforts and joins the Board as the Development Director. The first Fundraising event is a and#8220;Red Tag Saleand#8221; Nov. 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the former Izod outlet on Donner Pass Road. The space has been provided by Citizens Bank Plaza. The Red Tag Sale features a collection of donated items, new and gently used, for sale to benefit the Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus of Sierra College.



A variety of opportunities exist to support the TTCC, from shopping at the Red Tag Sale to writing a check. TTCC relies on contributions.
