Stone Soup Community Soup Night is looking for a few helping hands to help organize and coordinate the weekly community soup night for it’s second annual season. We are also looking for groups of people that would like to prepare and serve soup at one of the weekly soup nights. The Journey and Magical Day at the 2009 Hawaii Ironman, presented by Colleen Conners-Pace, MA, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 6:30 p.m. Conners-Paceis an Exercise Physiologist and a certified USAT Triathlon Coach Level 1 with the Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance. Conners-Pace applied for a 1988 Hawaii Ironman lottery spot, but was not lucky enough to be drawn. Her dream of participating in the Hawaii Ironman finally came true in 2009. She will share a fun, inspirational and scenic slide show of her incredible journey to the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii as well as the blast she experienced that magical day. Tahoe Yoga Institute (TYI), Tahoe City’s community yoga studio, is offering two special winter Yoga/Skate Ski Clinics designed to share asanas or postures to enhance skate skiing technique. Tim Hauserman, Tahoe local and author of andamp;#8220;Monsters in the Woods: Backpacking with Childrenandamp;#8221; and TYI instructors Tammy Miller and Caroline McNally will lead two groups on Jan. 10 and Feb. 7 in a yoga class and skate skiing lesson at the Tahoe Cross Country Center. Fitness Forever is a senior program that has inspired men and women for years. Cardio endurance segment features low and non-impact aerobic dance. Weight lifting segment uses small hand weights and tubing to sculpt muscles as well as build endurance. Combined with balance, flexibility and functional fitness this is a great class for seniors of all fitness levels! The Truckee Community Pool is now open Monday Mornings for recreation swim time with little ones in mind. Don’t get cabin fever stuck in the house this winter, go to the pool.
