The New Balance/Girls on the Run 5K Fun Run event is open to the entire community June 6. Runners, walkers, children and strollers are all welcome (please, no dogs). Online pre-registration is $20 per person at http://www.girlsontherunsierras.org. Or register race day for $25 per person. Event festivities include music, games, a great raffle and food for purchase. Registration and pre-race festivities begin at 9 a.m. The run starts at 10 a.m., Truckee River View Sports Park, 12200 Joerger Drive (off Soaring Way). Participating in this event will help raise money for a program that creates strong, confident women of the future.

Save the Date for the 4th Annual Relay For Life of Truckee July 17-18, 2010. The 2009 Truckee Relay a huge success: 24 teams participated honoring 71 survivors; 850 luminaria bags lit the track and more than $60,000 was raised.



Presented by Nina Winans, MD, Board Certified in Sports Medicine, Medical Director, Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance. Join Dr. Winans to learn more about cutting edge techniques that will keep you andamp;#8220;off the benchandamp;#8221; and andamp;#8220;on the fieldandamp;#8221; doing the sport you love, how to effectively warm up, the importance of core strength and proper body mechanics. The Monthly Pancake Breakfast fundraiser to benefit the Senior Meals program and the Meals on Wheels will be held on June 6, 8-11:30 a.m. in the dining room of the Truckee Donner Senior Apartments at 10040 Estates Drive in Truckee. This month’s sponsor is the Truckee Fire Protection District. Open to everyone! Adults: $7, children $3. Come early.



The Serendipity Yoga Health and Wellness Center will host an Open House Sunday, June 6, 1-5 p.m. at 770 Northwood Blvd., Suite 6. Cycle through the historic ranchlands of Sierra Valley June 12 beginning at 8 a.m. along one of three easy routes, 62 miles, 45 miles, or 30 miles for this annual Sierraville Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser. Enjoy local cuisine and live music at the finish line party in Sierraville afterward. Register $45 ($55 after June 10) at http://www.active.com or pick up a registration form at your local bike shop.
