Get moving North Lake Tahoe! Since 1983, May has been observed as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Jazzercise, the world’s leading dance fitness program, promotes the value of physical activity in the pursuit of happier, healthier, more productive lives all year long. In honor of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month in May, Jazzercise instructor Ginny Smith is offering two free weeks to all new students.A 60-minute Jazzercise class offers a fun and effective total body workout featuring a fusion of aerobic, resistance training, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing and Latin-style movements set to popular music.Classes are held at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach, Monday through Saturday, 8:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. May is National Osteoporosis Awareness/Prevention Month. Students who will be attending seventh through 12th grades next year in the Tahoe Truckee School District, are required to get a Pertussis booster shot, before they can begin classes in the fall. The Pertussis booster (also known as Whooping Cough) is available through the County Health Department or family doctor.Bring proof of immunization to your school by May 31, to give school officials adequate time to process the booster so your child may begin uninterrupted in the Fall. For the love of skiing and snowboarding, Donner Ski Ranch will be open Saturdays and Sundays until the snow is gone.
