To Steve Randall and Pete Kristian of the Truckee Donner Recreation andamp; Park District. On Saturday July 24 you welcomed our andamp;#8220;Team Squaw Valleyandamp;#8221; Pickleball group to the basketball court/ice skating area for a demonstration of andamp;#8220;Americaandamp;#8217;s Fastest Growing Sport,andamp;#8221; pickleball. Our 18 players came from Reno, Placerville, Meadow Vista, Roseville, South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City and Squaw Valley to showcase the game to the Truckee community.Your enthusiasm, as well as that of the many tennis players who came and tried the sport, was most gratifying.Even more exciting is the prospect of pickleball indoors this winter in the beautiful new Recreation Center. And possible future outdoor courts for next summer. In the meantime, until the snow flies, pickleball is being played and taught by nationally prominent players in Squaw Valley, Thursday through Sunday 9-11 a.m. Paddles and balls are provided. All you need is athletic/ court shoes. Courts are located in the lower parking lot behind the tower of nations. First left off Squaw Valley road.andamp;#8212; John and Jean SproehnleUSAPA Ambassadors, North Lake Tahoe/Truckee
Thank you Truckee and Sugar BowlThis is just a note to let everyone know how proud I am to live in such a wonderful community here in the Sierra. I was reminded of this over the past month since we used so many facilities, vendors and professionals to help us with the wedding arrangements for my daughter Montana and her husband Uriah Mitchell. We had many guests from out of down and it was so fun showing off.The Truckee Donner Parks and Recreation Department should be commended for providing a beautiful setting at the Truckee River Regional Parkandamp;#8217;s Riverfront Barbecue where we held the rehearsal dinner. The staff was so helpful and although there was a raucous party going on up top at the larger venue, we never noticed the noise where we were located down by the river. What a wonderful place to have an old-fashioned picnic. Our wedding was held on July 24, 2010 at Sugarbowl Ski Resort. That establishment put on a great event from beginning to end. The accommodations were wonderful, the staff super attentive, and the Wedding Coordinator Meghon Shrewsbury is nothing short of an angel. We were able to put the lionandamp;#8217;s share of the organization into her hands and relax and enjoy the wedding party ourselves. And speaking of enjoying andamp;#8212; everyone who attended the wedding did and couldnandamp;#8217;t get over how beautiful all of it was andamp;#8212; once again, you should be proud of yourself Truckee! Thank you.andamp;#8212; Russ and Kappy Mann
