Truckee tree lighting postponed due to weather

TRUCKEE, Calif. – After much consideration and discussion between Truckee Downtown Merchants Association, the schools, Rotary and town of Truckee, the Bud Fish tree lighting ceremony and children’s tree decorating will be postponed until Friday, Dec. 7 due to the weather forecast. It was decided the event would not be safe with students decorating unsecured trees in high winds and heavy rain. Not to mention, it will be just plain miserable. The organizations will have the same event, Friday, Dec. 7, so save the date.

However, the “Cocktail Bingo” event will still be held Nov. 30 at the downtown Community Arts Center including a raffle and silent auction. All of the proceeds from the event will go toward the town’s holiday lighting costs.

Throughout the month of December, downtown merchants will host holiday events every Friday evening. Guests are invited to peruse the downtown shops from 5-8 p.m. on Dec. 7 for family night, Dec. 14 for girls’ night out, and Dec. 21 for couples shopping. Visit http://www.HistoricTruckee.com.
