TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; The Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop is seeking beneficiary request applications from area nonprofit organizations to create a partnership that will benefit the selected organization. The Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop has established itself as one of Truckeeandamp;#8217;s preeminent events. Set for Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, noon-4 p.m., this annual favorite, now approaching its ninth year, brings more than 1,000 locals and visitors to historic downtown Truckee to sip wine, taste scrumptious food samples and enjoy shopping. The event benefits the community through marketing efforts and a boost in tourism during the shoulder season and a different local nonprofit each year. In years past, $2,000-$5,000 has been donated to the chosen non-profit partner. Past beneficiaries include Girls on the Run Sierras, Sierra Senior Services, Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services, Truckee and Glenshire Elementary Schoolsandamp;#8217; Special Friends Program, Truckee High School music program, Truckee-Tahoe Humane Society, Lake Tahoe Music Festival and InnerRhythms Dance Theater.Organizations may pick up an application at the Switchback Public Relations + Marketing, Inc. office or they can call and request a copy to be sent via e-mail, mail or fax.
