Special to the Sun

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The Truckee Wolverine Boosters is looking forward to another successful year of raising funds to forward on to Truckee High School clubs and athletic teams. Their budget for this year calls for raising more than $50,000.

These funds will then be given to student clubs, such as Envirolution, Leadership, Band, Academic Team, Project Graduation and Day on the Green. Athletic teams, from Alpine Skiing to Volleyball and everything in between, will also receive funds for equipment, uniforms, tournament fees and the like.

The Boosters raises funds from several sources, such as snack bar sales, memberships, posting signs and banners, Escrip and Shares Cards, and the sale of Boosters merchandise. The Boosters have obtained a trademark. Be sure to purchase true Booster merchandise so the proceeds go to the students. Buy your Booster merchandise from a Booster booth at school events or online at .

and#8220;We have had some local stores selling merchandise that purports to be Booster merchandise that is not authorized by us, and we have not been receiving the and#8216;portion of proceedsand#8217; as advertised, so we have had to obtain a trademark and are trying to work with those merchants that we believe are violating our trademark,and#8221; said Booster President Brent Collinson. and#8220;Hopefully, we can come to a good arrangement with them as we do receive significant support from our local businesses.and#8221;

Something new this year is the and#8220;Business Sponsorshipand#8221; program where a business or private individual may purchase a Business Sponsorship card that will allow four people to attend all regular season high school athletic events. The transferable card can be used by any four people for each event, so it allows businesses to show their appreciation to their customers and employees by allowing them to use the pass for these games and matches throughout the 2011-2012 school year. The form (as well as the form to have a sign or banner posted at Surprise Stadium or the gym) is available at
