Truckeeand#8217;s own Shaw Family Farm to host Farm to Table event

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Celebrate locally grown food and community spirit at the Shaw Family Farm in the Field Feast dinner slated for Saturday, Aug. 21 in Truckee.

The evening commences with a 4 p.m. wine reception and tour of the Shaw Family Farm in Glenshire. Guests will then proceed to a dinner featuring a selection of seasonal and farm grown specialties masterfully prepared by Barbara Mills of Back of the House Catering. Each course will be paired with an outstanding Northern Sierra wine.

Want some tantalizing menu highlights? Imagine the wonderful corn and zucchini cakes with heirloom tomatoes and buttermilk bleu cheese dressing or the summer chicken pot pie with cheddar thyme crust. Or maybe the grass-fed local California beef meatloaf with organic tomato bacon glaze will get your taste buds watering. Sides include roasted potatoes with garlic aioli, pickled beans, and John Shawand#8217;s multi-grain bread with honey butter. Still not totally sold? Imagine that first bite of the roasted Chattin Family Orchard Sun Crest peaches served with mascarpone cream.



Tickets are $150 per person and include a four-course dinner served in the beautiful Pine Meadows followed by dessert and dancing to a sophisticated High Country blend of Zydeco, bluegrass and blues. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Slow Food Lake Tahoe, a grassroots movement that links the pleasure of food with the commitment to community and the environment. The proceeds from this event are earmarked for the organizationand#8217;s nutritional education outreach program for children.
