U.S. Constitution essay contest and presentation for Tahoe Truckee high schoolers

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Providence Foundation West will offer an essay contest open to high school students. All participants must be currently enrolled in high school (public, private or home). First place will receive $100 and their editorial will be printed in the Sierra Sun.

To enter, follow the instructions below.

1. Attend and#8220;The Constitution under Siege,and#8221; to be presented by Mike Winther, Friday, Sept. 16, 6:30-8 p.m. at Camp Lahontan, 7050 Lahontan Drive, Truckee. Admission is $5. Sign up at http://providencefoundationwest.org/constitution/ or pay at the door. Editorials will only be accepted from those who attended the event.



2. Write a 400-word editorial on the following prompt: and#8220;How did the ideas of the founders affect the Constitution and what role should the Constitution have in government today?and#8221;

3. Submit your essay to Kelsey at PFWTruckee@gmail.com. Include your name, age, home address, e-mail, phone and the name of the high school you attend.



Deadline to submit is Sept. 30, 2011.
