TRUCKEE and#8212; By the time you read this, Tuesday, Nov. 2 will be a distant memory and the elections will be over. Many of us will be relieved and some will be cheering and some tearing.

Whatever your political leanings, it is important to keep in mind when we complain about the outcome that if it were not for our veterans and those who continue to fight for our freedom, we would not have the luxury to choose our leaders.

That said, please take the opportunity to honor and celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of our Veterans by attending the Veterans Day program Nov. 11, 11 a.m. at the train station in Truckee. It won’t take a lot of your time and you will probably feel good about saying and#8220;thank youand#8221; to those who have given us so much.
