Vintage seaplane to visit Truckee

Staff ReportsA vintage seaplane from the 1930s and ’40s will land at Truckee Tahoe Airport as part of its two-year world tour on Oct. 17. The Dornier DO-24, which is raising money for United Nations Childrens Fund during the global trip, will stay in Truckee until October 21. Visitors may schedule rides in the aircraft for a donation. There isn’t a final schedule for what the aircraft will be doing for the week, but it will be based at the airport. Contact the airport at 587-4119 for information. A community open-house is set for Oct. 20 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The aircraft Web site is for more information about the tour and the aircraft.
