For what organization do you volunteer?Truckee Optimist Club.How long have you been with the Optimist Club?Three years.What is your role as a volunteer?I am a volunteer helping out with any project we might have. Two years I was a board member.How did you get involved?I got involved when I started coaching basketball for the high school. The club helped me with funding, so I decided that I wanted to help like they all do.What do you enjoy most about volunteering?Seeing all the other members out working for our community and giving money for the youth in our town for a chance to have fun and be successful.How does the Optimist Club raise money?The Optimists fundraise with several events. We have the Cannibal Cruise and Beer Fest. We have others, too, and the youth in our town help out to earn the money they receive.Name a few groups that receive help from the Optimist Club.Truckee High band, the drama club, girls basketball. Truckee Park and Recreation and any other group that asks and helps kids in our town.What is your favorite event?Cannibal Cruise is my favorite. The cars that are shown are great and so many people come out and support us.Tell me how sports have affected your life.Sports are a very big part of my life. I have been lucky to have great mentors and sports helped me get through school.How do youth benefit from team sports?Team sports help get us ready for the real world working with others, having different roles, setting goals, being able to get along with teammates is like getting along at home with our families. We learn many things that help us later in life playing team sports.How would interested parties volunteer?Anyone may volunteer to help. We are always looking for new members to help out and we like to get new ideas for fundraising.We can be contacted at P.O. How do you apply it to your life?I apply the creed daily trying to be as helpful and happy as can be, treat others the way I would like to be treated.Working with kids is a dream come true.
