Tuesdays I pick up [food] at four locations. Albertsons in Truckee for cakes and baked goods; Treat Box in Truckee for doughnuts; New Moon for anything natural, like cheese, bread, eggs, milk; and Piper’s usually for sandwiches, croissants or muffins. And I bring the food to the rec center in Truckee … the food gets distributed mainly to people in Truckee who need extra assistance.

It’s good for me to get out and do some volunteer work. And they need the food I bring out every week. It’s convenient and I like doing it. I’ve been there a long time so I see the changeover of people. Not always the same people. There’s a woman who used to get food from MANA, and now I still get food for her on Tuesday’s just so she has a little extra.

I do a little pottery. I go to Curves. I used to work for the Humane Society and we have a dog, Marshall, from there.

I have been with them so long and I see new people. Gotta be something happening because it’s not the same people all the time. And everybody’s really nice. All the AmeriCorps people are great and work hard at what they do.
