Ward-Young Architecture & Planning Associates receive LEED accreditation

Ron Larkins

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Ron Larkins and David Bourke, associates at Ward-Young Architecture & Planning, recently received their LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credential. The LEED AP Building Design + Construction credential provides a standard for professionals participating in the design and construction phases of high-performance, healthful, durable, affordable and environmentally sound commercial, institutional and high-rise residential buildings. The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) created this specialty credential to denote practical knowledge of the Green Building Design and the LEED rating system.Bourke has the honor of being the project architect for the first LEED certified building in Truckee, the Natural Resources Management Center at Old Greenwood. He was also the project architect for the U.S. Forest Service Truckee Ranger District Office Building which is expected to receive LEED Gold certification. Larkins is currently the project architect for the North Tahoe Fire Protection District Fire Station in Tahoe City, which is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and is seeking LEED Silver certification. In addition, Ron wrote the specifications for the Kohm Yah-Mah-nee Visitor Center at Lassen Volcanic National Park (LEED Platinum), the Natural Resource Management Center at Old Greenwood Golf Resort, and the US Forest Service Truckee Ranger Station.
