HOMEWOOD andamp;#8212; JMA Ventures, LLC (JMA), owners of the recently reopened West Shore Caf andamp; Inn, is pleased to celebrate the opening of the summer season with a deck party June 11, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Guests will meet West Shore Caf’s newly appointed executive chef, William andamp;#8220;Rustyandamp;#8221; Johns. Johns brings a passion for cooking, hospitality and Lake Tahoe to the West Shore Caf andamp; Inn, which combines an elegant, approachable restaurant; an intimate, six-room inn and the breathtaking beauty of its lakefront setting. For the June 11 deck party, arrive in true Lake Tahoe fashion by docking your boat at one of the 28 complimentary buoys. Ample parking is also available. The Tahoe Jazz Collective will perform 2-5 p.m. Chef Rusty Johns will present dishes that have already become favorites among the West Shore locals andamp;#8212; crispy fried asparagus with buttermilk dip; pan-fried trout with crawdads, lemon, capers and fries; and brown sugar brined pork chop with mac andamp;#8216;n’ cheese and apple sauce. andamp;#8220;We are thrilled to have a seasoned Tahoe chef of Rusty’s caliber join our team,andamp;#8221; said Todd Chapman, principal of JMA. andamp;#8220;Not only is he an extremely talented chef, he also shares our vision of the West Shore Caf andamp; Inn as the place to be for families, locals and visitors looking for an unforgettable lakefront dining experience.andamp;#8221; Under Johns’ direction, the West Shore Caf offers a menu of classic dishes and comfort foods that draw from the best that California has to offer andamp;#8212; fresh, seasonal produce, seafood and meats. Additional summer menu favorites include smoked trout gratin with fennel relish and crostini; Dungeness crab and corn fritters with smoked lime aioli; fried green tomatoes and stone ground grits with onion marmalade and the West Shore burger.A longtime Tahoe resident, Johns has worked at some of Tahoe’s most recognized dining establishments, including Ristorante Montagna at the Resort at Squaw Creek and Moody’s Bistro and Lounge, where he was an integral member of the restaurant’s opening team, working alongside Chef Mark Estee for two years. In 2005, Johns accepted the position of executive sous chef at the private Lahontan Golf Club. Most recently, wanting to expand his food and beverage managerial experience, Johns joined Pinnacle Entertainment in Reno where he served as executive chef and food and beverage manager, overseeing multiple dining outlets, including Cassidy’s Steakhouse.
