Will you go to the MORP with me?

Last Friday, the Truckee High sophomore class leadership put on the first ever MORP. MORP, which is prom spelled backwards, was a fundraiser for next year’s prom. It was a dance open to freshmen and sophomores, and no juniors or seniors unless they were invited.

The dance started at 8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria and ended at 11 p.m. It was chaperoned by different teachers and a total of 141 tickets were sold for $10 each.

Although many people said, and I quote, that the dance would be really “lame,” I actually had a really good time. I wasn’t the only one either.

“I thought it was one of the most fun dances I have ever been to,” said Addie Shaffer, a freshmen at Truckee High, “even though there weren’t many people there.”

Even though many kids said it would be “stupid,” it seems that almost everyone who went had a genuinely good time. Unfortunately, leadership only broke even. No money was raised. Hopefully next year, the turn out will be better.
