Wolfdale’s Restaurant hosts an artist’s reception on Friday, Sept. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. to showcase the work of Plein Air painter Andy Skaff, whose work is on display at Wolfdale’s through October.

Andy works in oils in the Plein Air tradition. His love of the West provides the inspiration for his light-filled, vibrant landscapes. By painting outdoors in the Sierra Nevada and throughout the West, Andy has developed a deep appreciation for the color and beauty of the western landscape. His paintings convey the clear sense of strong color and deep contrasts, which he sees in the Sierra Nevada and high deserts of New Mexico and Arizona.

Andy has studied extensively with the renowned painter Kevin Macpherson. He is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the California Art Club, and the North Tahoe Arts Association. He is also a volunteer firefighter at Lake Tahoe’s Meeks Bay Fire District.

Just this year, his paintings have been selected for an exhibit at the Napa Valley Museum, the Oil Painters of America Western Regional exhibit in Santa Barbara and for the 2007 Sunset Magazine Western Idea House in Truckee. He is currently represented by the Linden Hayes Fine Arts in San Francisco, Ryrie’s Art and Home in Reno, Pablo’s Fine Art Gallery and the Rubicon Collection in Tahoe City, and Spirit Design in Truckee. A selection of Andy’s paintings and news of upcoming exhibits can be found at http://www.askaff.com.

Wolfdale’s Restaurant (http://www.wolfdales.com) is located at 640 North Tahoe Blvd. in Tahoe City.
