Word on the Street: Do you feel it’s important to shop local for the holidays?

Kevin Bouchard

KINGS BEACH, Calif. — This week’s question: Do you feel it’s important to shop local for the holidays?

Here are answers, as asked Monday in Kings Beach:

Don Zerga, archaeologist, Brockway: “Yes, I always shop local, and I’ve been here for 40 years.”

Kevin Bouchard, U.S. Forest Service firefighter, Kings Beach: “I absolutely do. It just builds better community. I’d much rather spend the few extra dollars buying something here at my local ski shop than … online.”

Elaine Bottorff, retired, Agate Bay: “Yes, so people we shop from can support the area’s economy.”

Peter Martinez, lift operator at Northstar, Kings Beach: “Living here, yes. You don’t want to drive when you don’t have to and waste a lot of energy.”
