TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; World Breastfeeding Week set Aug. 1-7 aside to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies and mothers around the world.

Nevada County WIC is a supplemental nutritional program for pregnant or breastfeeding women and children up to the age of 5. WIC has a wonderful program that supports breastfeeding moms in all kinds of circumstances to help them have a successful breastfeeding experience. There are two breastfeeding peer counselors and a lactation consultant in Truckee.

On Aug. 3 several moms and their infants and young children gathered to celebrate at Truckee Family Resource Center and during their time together, they enjoyed sampling oatmeal cookies, fruit and Jamaica punch, which is hibiscus tea.
