TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. – Twenty-nine elementary and middle school students from the Truckee and North Tahoe areas are excitedly preparing for a holiday concert with the Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus. The children, who range in age from 6-11, are looking forward to singing two songs this year with the adults in the chorus. Performances will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Resort at Squaw Creek. The adult program will include traditional carols, classical pieces, and some special numbers in honor of Founding Director Chris Nelson.
The children will sing “We Are the Children of Promise” with the Chorus; then they will take the stage alone to present “Around the World at Christmas Time,” a beautiful song written for children’s voices that promotes peace and understanding. Featured soloists will be Eva Baffone and Kaitlin Woodruff, with Lauren Tanner signing the second half of the number.
The Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus is under the direction of conductors Susan Horst and Tom Acord. The children are part of the “Kids on Broadway” group directed by Courtney Simson, and are currently rehearsing their own holiday show to be presented the following weekend.
The program promises to be a wonderful holiday experience for all ages.
