Ajari leads pack of Torpedoes at Roseville meet

Nine Truckee-Tahoe Torpedo swimmers competed in the Sierra Nevada Short Course Championships last weekend in an outdoor pool in Roseville, Calif.

Temperatures outside were in the 40s.

“They swam incredibly well despite the conditions,” said head coach Nancy Rose.

Following are individual results:

Leslie Ajari,11, won 7 events, two 2nds, two 3rds, and a 5th, took home the high point award for the 11-12 year old girls.

Ajari’s times and placements: 50 free, 27.46, fifth; 100 free, 58.25, first; 200 free, 2:06.72, first; 500 free, 5:39.58, first; 50 back, 31.35, third; 100 back, 1:06.21, second; 50 breast, 35.16, second; 100 breast, 1:14.30, first; 50 fly, 29.67, third; 100 fly, 1:06.19, first; 100 IM, 1:06.71, first; 200 IM , 2:20.39, first.

Kara LaPoint, 12, also placed in the top 16 in eight events: 50 free, 28.93, 15th; 50 back, 32.91, eighth; 100 back, 1:10.94, eighth; 50 breast, 37.63, 14th; 100 breast, 1:21.90, 15th; 50 fly, 31.56, 10th; 100 fly, 1:11.83, 11th; 100 IM, 1:11.10, 11th.

Matthew Gelso, 10, placed top 16 in 4 events: 200 free, 2:35.76, 14th; 50 breast, 44.46, 14th; 100 breast, 1:30.42, ninth; 200 IM, 2:55.93, eighth.

Daniel Gelso, 7, placed top 16 in 2 events: 25 back, 21.34, seventh; 50 fly, 57.55, 12th.

Other swimmers were Peter O’Neil, 12; Lauren O’Neil, 8; Stephanie O’Neil, 6; Hayley Howell, 10 and Joelle Comeaux, 11.
