The trio of Alex Straw, Brittney Straw and Brittany Percin represented the Truckee Tahoe Swim Team well at the Far Western Long Course Championships in Concord, Calif., the weekend of July 31.
Alex Straw, 14, placed ninth in both the 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke, while his sister Brittney, 12, placed seventh in the 100 backstroke.
Head coach Debbie Meyer said as far as she knows, the Straws became the first Truckee Tahoe Swim Team members to earn medals at the Far Western meet, where swimmers this year came from as far away as Mexico, Canada and Pennsylvania.
Percin, who at age 13 was competing against 13- and 14-year-olds, missed finals in the 400 free by only about a second.
