All-League volleyball | Mackenzie Redner awarded Mount Rose League MVP

Truckee and North Tahoe volleyball players were honored recently with selections to the All-Mount Rose League teams, led by Truckee junior Mackenzie Redner’s MVP.

The awards were voted on by coaches in the Division I-A- and Division III-mixed Mount Rose League. The league compiled separate first teams for the D-IA and DIII, while the second team and honorable mentions were combined.

Aside from Redner’s league MVP, her coach, Erika Murphy, was voted Coach of the Year, while four teammates made the Division I-A first team. Chelsea Mohun was named to the first team at opposite hitter, Mel Jones and Kestlie Stefanelli at outside hitter, and Gabby Moretti at setter.

For the Division III, North Tahoe’s Taylor Briggs and Lauren Willson were voted to the first team, and Whittell’s Amanda Harris was the MVP.

Truckee’s Rebecca Berelson and Lauren Peak were voted to the second team at middle blocker and outside hitter, respectively, and North Tahoe’s Kylie Willson was voted to the second team as a utility player.

North Tahoe’s Tilley Gibeaut and Truckee’s Nichole Riofrio received honorable mention recognition.

In Division I-A All-State voting, Murphy was awarded Co-Coach of the year along with Faith Lutheran’s Amy Fisher, while Jaeda Allen of Chaparral was Player of the Year.

Redner, Moretti and Stefanelli were voted to the All-State first team and Jones and Mohun received honorable mention.
