All-Mount Rose League Softball | Truckee, North Tahoe players recognized
Truckee softball players were well represented in All-League voting, as four Wolverines landed on the first team while nine players were honored in total.North Tahoe, meanwhile, had three players who received honorable mention recognition. The awards were voted on by coaches from the 2A/3A-mixed Mount Rose League.From Truckee, seniors Stacy Brenes at shortstop, Natalya Jones at second base and Tracy Pearson in center field all were voted to the All-Mount Rose League first team. Junior teammate Krysta Murphy not only was voted to the first team as a pitcher, she was the only Truckee player additionally honored on the 3A All-State team, receiving honorable mention. All-State awards were voted on by coaches in the state championship tournament, in which Truckee did not compete.Truckee’s Bailey LeClair was voted the All-League second team at catcher, while teammates Jessie Jensen made the second team as an infielder, Cheyenne Acevedo and Claire DePew as outfielders, and freshman Breanna Weber as a pitcher.North Tahoe senior infielder Tara Turpin received All-League honorable mention recognition, as did teammates Heidi Jimenez and Samantha Jeffers.Melissa Smith of South Tahoe was voted MVP and her coach, Steve Kolesnik, was Coach of the Year. In All-State voting, Taylor McKeever of Boulder City was named MVP and Phil Pinder of Fallon was Coach of the Year.
