Bob Shaffer to coach in Sertoma Classic all-star football game

Longtime Truckee High football coach Bob Shaffer will will lead one of the all-star teams in the 31st annual Sertoma Classic football game on June 15.

Shaffer, who coached the Silver all-stars to a 21-0 win over the Blue squad in 2010, will coach opposite Ernie Howren of Reed High School, confirmed Bill Miller, game chairman for the Sertoma Classic.

Miller said the game, which normally is held at Mackay Stadium at the University of Nevada, Reno, will instead he held at Damonte Ranch High School in south Reno.



The Sertoma Classic features the best senior football players from about 30 Northern Nevada high schools, including California schools in the NIAA such as Truckee, North Tahoe and South Tahoe. The game, sponsored by the Sparks Sertoma Club, first began in 1981.

Players have yet to be announced.
