Truckee football players and coaches were honored by Sen. Ted Gaines during a ceremony in the California State Capitol building Wednesday.The Wolverines joined Sen. Gaines on the Senate Floor, where they were presented with certificates of recognition for their recent success. They also received a guided tour of the capitol. The Truckee football team has won 36 consecutive games, or three full seasons, which is the fifth-longest streak in the nation in 11-man football. It’s the longest current streak among California schools and second in Nevada only to Pahranagat Valley, a 1A school that plays eight-man football.Truckee, which competes in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association due to its close proximity to the Nevada border, has won three consecutive NIAA 3A state titles. Sen. Gaines represents California’s 1st Senate District, which includes Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento and Sierra counties.
