The Truckee boys snowboard team leads the standings three races into the CNISSF Central II season, with 1,127 points to runner-up Placer’s 1,102. North Tahoe’s boys are fourth with 1,040 points.
On Monday at Northstar California Resort, Truckee’s Ryan Murphy and Casey Curtis swept the top two spots individually, posting times of 1:33.87 and 1:36.06, respectively, between their two giant slalom runs. North Tahoe’s Brandon Hayakawa finished third in the field of 53 racers with a time of 1:38.83.
Truckee’s Quinntin Butler (1:45.98) finished seventh and was followed by teammates Phoenix David in 25th and Jan Heuser in 27th.
For the Lakers, Chad Blakeman (1:47.04) placed 11th, Simon Wyss was 29th, Miguel Lara 37th and Colton Wood 38th.
Nichole Graham led the Truckee girls with a fourth-place finish among 26 racers, posting a time of 1:52.10. Truckee teammate Sofie Maciel was seventh in 1:58.88. The Truckee girls have had only two racers through the first three races, while North Tahoe has not had any girls.
Placer’s girls swept the top two, with Olivia Obray winning in 1:39.29.
Murphy and Curtis also finished 1-2 in the season-opening race at Alpine Meadows on Jan. 12. Butler was fourth, David 14th and Heuser 20th. Hayakawa finished ninth to lead the North Tahoe boys. Blakeman was 13th, Wood 21st, Wyss 24th and Chase Rodriguez 28th.
Maciel and Graham, meanwhile, finished second and third, respectively, for the Wolverines, while Lily Worthington of Placer took the win.
In the second race at Boreal Mountain Resort on Jan. 19, Hayakawa placed second behind Sean Mulvihill of Davis. Blakeman was 13th, Wyss 14th and Wood 30th.
Butler paced the Truckee boys with a sixth-place finish and was followed by Curtis in seventh, David in ninth, Murphy in 11th and Heuser in 27th.
Graham led the Truckee girls in second place, behind Worthington, and Maciel was 14th.
