Cougars beat Pau-Wa-Lu

The Alder Creek Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball team soundly defeated Pau-Wa-Lu, 25-7, on Thursday inGardnerville.Balanced scoring from seven different players propelled the Cougars to their fourth Tah-Neva League win. The Cougars unleashed smothering full-court press sets and half-court traps to confuse their opponent.Our bench was significant today, said Cougars coach Geoff Stephens. We didnt miss a beat on defense. All combinations worked both defensively and for the fast break.The defense was led by Natalie Duner and Megan Shalvis, while Sarah Shontz, Sam OConnell, Hannah Bright, Ally Coronado-Smith and Carlee Shontz led the offense.The Cougars play at home on Monday and Tuesday, when they will face Incline and Eagle Valley.
