Cross country heading to Incline Invitational

Following an impressive second place finish by the Wolverine ladies’ cross country team at their home meet two weeks ago, the TTHS boys’ team came alive at North Tahoe on Sept. 14 with a fourth-place finish ahead of a speedy Laker pack.

The small team rode their wave of confidence into the Dayton Invitational last Friday, yet came up short of a strong finish.

“With such a limited number of runners, we really need our fourth and fifth boys to come through and that did not happen,” said Coach Mark Brady after the meet.

The boys’ team finished fifth overall thanks to a fifth place run by Graham Herr. Iran Manzano came in 15th overall, followed by teammates Andrew Van Blarigan in 26th, David Desantes in 50th, Dave Cox in 54th and Victor Diez finishing in 64th place. The ladies’ team did not attain a team score due to a lack of runners, but finished at the front of the pack individually. Betsy Van Blarigan crossed the finish line in sixth place leading Kayla Evans, Whitney Prosser and Katie Clark who finished 15th, 18th and 23rd respectively.

“We are hoping to have a better finish this week,” added Brady. The Wolverines will travel to Incline this Friday for the Incline Invitational – a race with approximately 12 competing teams.
