Cross country | McElravey, Wood lead squads at Warrior Warpath Invite

Patrick McElravey led the North Tahoe boys and Ruby Wood led the Truckee girls with eighth-place finishes in the Warrior Warpath Invitational at Whittell on Friday.

North Tahoe senior Hugo Ramirez finished 12th out of 110 runners for the Laker boys, while teammate Luke Funicella was 23rd and Truckee’s Kyle Jorgensen 25th. Trailing Wood in the girls’ race were teammates Carly Clusserath in 11th and Gaby Garcia in 17th. Michelle Cahill led the North Tahoe girls in 36th.

Whittell senior John Robinson won the boys’ race, posting a near-record time of 18 minutes, 17 seconds on the challenging 5-kilometer course. Mariah Anthony of Fernley took first in the girls’ field, finishing in 22 minutes, 16 seconds.

In the team competition, the Truckee girls finished second behind Incline.

Times were not available beyond the top five finishers.
