Dodgers take division with 9-1-5 season

Ending the season with a 9-1-5 record, the major league Dodgers of Truckee Little League cruised to first place in division play last weekend.

Under the direction of coach Del Williams, the Dodgers won their last two games – an 11-1 route against second-place Diamondbacks and an 18-4 win against the Rockies.

The games were makeups from the beginning of the season.

“I knew we had a really good chance,” said Williams.

“But with my coaching style, I don’t always play to win. I play to play all they kids.”

In the game against the Diamondbacks, Jimmy Williams pitched a one-run game.

Tyler Smith took the mound in the next match, scattering four runs.

“We had good hitting from the entire team,” coach Williams said.

The team included: Jimmy Williams, Tommy Kokenge, Ian Casey, Branson Iten, Kyler Smith, R.J. Kato, Jacob Grossman, Micah Carbajal, Nick Costa, Kyle Steverman, Cameron Lewis and Wade Davy.

Coaches included Williams, Tom Kokenge and Bob Carbajal.

The Dodgers were sponsored by Faulkner and Associates.
