Dorsey has perfect aim

Truckee’s Corey Dorsey, 11, has advanced to the state level in the Knights of Columbus free throw championship after sinking 18 of 25 shots from the line and winning a playoff.

Dorsey started at the local level and advanced to a chapter competition in Marysville, where he hit 20 of 25, then on to the district level in Auburn, where he hit 18 of 25.

Playoff round

The problem was, several other players also hit 18, so Dorsey was forced into a playoff round where players were allowed five shots.

Dorsey hit all five.

“I was kind of nervous before,” Dorsey admitted, but said, “the only time I’m not nervous is when I shoot.”

He advances to the state level in Fresno later this month.

What’s next

Should he advance past that, the next step is the national competition.
