Ericson achieves milestone for Pack volleyball

Keith Sheffield/Sierra SunTeal Ericson puts this hit down during Nevada's match against Hawaii on Nov. 2.

North Tahoe High graduate Teal Ericson achieved a milestone this past Thursday night when she recorded her career kill No. 1,000 for the University of Nevada volleyball team in Provo, Utah.

But while the junior outside hitter delivered a match-high 13 kills on the night, Nevada still came up short in its non-conference match against No. 21 BYU by a 3-0 score. The Cougars (21-4) won 30-24, 30-24, 30-15.

Ericson came into the match needing two kills to reach the 1,000 milestone. She also finished with six digs and four blocks in the match.

Ericson turned in another solid performance Saturday night with a match-high 23 kills in Nevada’s 3-2 Western Athletic Conference loss against Utah State in Logan. Utah State rallied from a two-game deficit to win 28-30, 28-30, 30-25, 30-27, 17-15. Ericson had two late kills to help the Wolf Pack close out their second-game win.

Nevada, 15-12 overall for the season, 9-5 in WAC, closes its regular season this week with a WAC match Wednesday at Idaho and Saturday at Boise State. The WAC Tournament will be held Nov. 22-24 in Reno.
