Four Wolverines to play in all-star basketball game

Truckee High varsity boys and girls basketball coaches Keith Crawford and Angelo Tenorio were each chosen to assemble and coach an all-star team to compete in the Fallon Optimist All-Star Classic.

The annual all-star games, which mostly consists of seniors from 1A through 5A schools, will be held at Fallon High School May 23, with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.

Tenorio has chosen Truckee seniors Erica Rice, a forward, and guard Felicia Tenorio to play on his team, but has yet to choose any players beyond that.

Crawford said he has recruited 13 players so far for his team, including Truckee senior guards Brandon Peterson and Jason Chapman, whose 22.3 points per game last season was the third-highest scoring average in greater Nevada.

“Its an honor for me to coach in this prestigious event and watch the group of local seniors from area high schools compete one last time,” said Crawford, who has coached the Wolverines for two years. … “It’s going to be a fun night, one last hurrah for the seniors. I’m looking forward to the event.”
