Full set of sports lined up for summer

The Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District is offering a womens soccer league. This is a fun league for players of all ability levels.

Teams will play nine-on-nine, Sundays from June 6 until July 24. Games will take place between 1 and 5 p.m. at River View Sports Park. The cost of the league is $200 per team with each team also responsible for a $120 player fee.

The Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District is pleased to offer Ultimate Frisbee. This drop-in program is great for beginners and experienced players. Pick-up games will be organized each week. There will also be a league depending on player interest.

Drop-ins will be held at River View Sports Parks on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. starting May 26 and running until Aug. 4. The cost for drop-in is $3 per day.

The Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District is offering beginner adult golf lessons.

Learn the basics of golf or just improve your game with Bill Firth, author of “A Golfers Guide to Enlightenment.” Lessons will meet at Brockway Golf Course from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., June 15 until July 8. The cost is $135 for the 10 classes. Bring your own clubs if possible. Pre-registration is required.

The Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District is pleased to offer women’s golf lessons.

Learn the basics of golf, including grip, stance, posture and a fundamentally sound swing. Classes will meet at the Regional Park Driving Range. Participants are encouraged to bring their own clubs if possible. The lessons will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. starting May 24 and concluding on June 21. The cost is $65. Pre-registration is required. Private instruction is also available.

The Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District is holding two meetings to look for softball players for a womens softball league. Without enough players there will not be a league this year.

The meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, May 18 and Wednesday, May 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Truckee Regional Park small ball field. Players ages 16 years or older of all ability levels are encouraged to attend. Future games will be played on Wednesday evenings from June to August. Come out to the free drop-in nights, hit a few balls and be placed on a team.

The Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District is offering an umpire clinic for anyone interested in becoming a certified ASA umpire. Those interested in umpiring adult softball games this summer in Truckee should attend.

The clinic is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Donner Room of the TDRPD community center on 11046 Church Street in downtown Truckee. Umpiring softball games is a great way to make some extra cash and have fun doing it. Umpires are paid between $18 -$22 per game.
