Court Leve/Sun News ServiceSkateboarder True Love rides at the Truckee Skate Park on Sunday for a chance to compete on an upcoming television series, The Ultimate Boarder. About 25 athletes auditioned at the skate park.

The Truckee Skate Park and Squaw Valley USA served as audition sites last weekend for a future television series called The Ultimate Boarder.

The TV show, to air at an undetermined date, has set out to discover and crown a male and female athlete who can “conquer” surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding.

Twelve amateur athletes, six men and six women, will be selected to compete on the show. They will live together, travel together, train together and compete in challenges against each other.

Katy Wallin, casting director for The Ultimate Boarder, said about 25 athletes auditioned at the Truckee Skate Park on Sunday, where they were judged by Pat Duffy, Joel Mahaffey, Jim Rippey, Jeremy Jones and Morgan LaFonte. The same cast of judges were at Squaw Valley Friday and Saturday for the snowboarding portion of the audition.

“The (auditions) went really well,” Wallin said. “All the athletes were great. There’s a lot of great talent here, for sure.”

After being taught and trained by legends in each industry, a male and female from the 12 selected athletes on the show will be chosen as The Ultimate Boarder and will receive a large cash prize and a collection of prizes from sponsors.

Wallin said an undetermined six-city tour will follow the Tahoe-area audition, and that the 12 athletes will be named at the end of this year.
