Golf girls second at meet

The Tahoe-Truckee High School girls’ golf team continued its successful streak last Friday, finishing just a point out of first place at Yerington.

Though Battle Mountain was first with a 527, Truckee followed with a 528, with Fernley in third at 547.

Individually, Megan Harter finished second overall with a 95.

Rene Trudeau shot a 97, an improvement over her last performance in which she failed to break 100.

“I think she’s coming off her slump,” said head coach Mike Merriman. “She’s in a better mental frame of mind.”

Merriman also had encouraging words for Harter.

“Megan’s playing very solid golf right now,” he said. “She’s been under 100 in her last three tournaments.”

Emily DeCarlo, who Merriman said is “making strides,” shot a 102, having improved her score an average of 10 strokes per match in the last three tournaments.

“She’s been doing a good job,” he said.

The next meet is today at Lahontan, beginning at 11 a.m.
